Had quite a funny day today and probably one of the more enjoyable days this month.

Started off by ending one of the most brutal studio sessions I have ever had. Basically 2, 3 days of non stop working at studio, going back only for shower and brush teeth breaks. Got really jaded because I seem to be making no progress at all but thankful because i know I'm really just drawing strength from God, not even as an inspiration for design but as my refuge.
After class was over went straight to Orchard to catch Vertical Rush and Surreal at Rouge for the 20th anniversary party of Hype magazine. Both awesome bands (and not just because I'm good friends with the members) but really great to see their sound invading a club instead of the usual brainless top 40, retro or house (*shudder*)... but seriously not Christian bands but a band of Christians (you guys rawk!)
I don't know why but i find people in clubs and pubs quite disturbing in that the world seems to think that everyone needs alcohol and sex to enjoy themselves. While the group of us are just enjoying each other's company and the great sets the bands played, I noticed there were a group of people who were just fixated with the xbox's they had set up in one of the lounge booths and I just kept thinking why pay $10 to seclude yourself? (btw I'm not anti-xbox, i own one myself). Plus the MCs for the event somehow thought it'll be fun to have a competition for "the girl wearing the shortest skirt", which was quite a turn off seeing one of the girl's boyfriend prodding her to go "display her wares" so to speak. But I guess it was a blessing in disguise because as part of a youth ministry it's these kind of happenings that galvanises us into going into these places to spread positivity and real fulfillment in Christ.

After the party, went to hang out with Kun and Deana from uni, had quite an experience trying out shisa (spelt correct?), which is like some type of flavoured indian smoking device (yes like a bong), but has no drug effects (we tried the peppermint flavour). Now I'm a huge anti-smoker, I've tried one cigarette in my life and I can't stand smoking and smokerd in general. At first I was quite apprehensive as to trying this shisa thing out mainly because I just assume all forms of smoking involve some type of altered perception of realty but after some reassurance I took a puff (haha that sounds so wrong). Basically just tried it out as part of my "exchange experience". Had some fun trying to blow smoke rings and taking short videos that will probably freak out my parents once I show them. Overall, it was just like breathing in condensed sauna air, the peppermint flavour was quite nice too..

(as you can probably guess my first reaction to this thing was "Honey, I can't believe it's not a bong")
