This has got to be one of my favourite websites I have ever visited, simple design, great details and content. Just like a giant bowl of soup on a cold Sydney morning in a cafe by the beach, gives me inspiration to design....

Finally had a chance to watch City of God during a break from my final submission and have to say, it is a pretty awesome movie. A lot of reviews I read slammed the movie because of the huge body count and casual way of treating death. But I think they're missing the point, the story told is about a place where life and death are a very inherent part of the culture. The gunshots and violence weren't there for the shock effect, but was weaved in with the rhythm of life. The great thing about the movie was its accurate portrayal of people, because in a real story, there is no good or bad guys, everyone, including the main character were after the same things, money, sex, drugs and to make a living. The story just made this fact a surreal journey because in this city with no money, external power or any contact with the rest of the world, the game of life just becomes part of a dance where everyone moves to the same rhythm, pause, then dance to the next track.

Happy Good Friday people!
This is the day the Lord has made
For Christ was the highest but made himself low so that all may be saved!

hehe bought the incredibles dvd today had a blast trying to do work while watching it, but the real kudos goes to the extras, including a hilarious short of Jack jack and what happend with the baby sitter and alot of "Hero" sound files. Also watched Sponge-bob squarepants movie last night, which was an hour and an half of intense stupidity. Ok for the first half I could not stop laughing, its just non-stop gags, facial expressions that make you roll on the ground and genius sound effects. But then the fact that nothing makes sense sinks in.....then you just want to say "what the hell.....?" then the ending will just leave a bad taste in your mouth.... Guess my verdict is just to watch it for the laughs and the impressions you try out after the show but don't try and make sense of it all, it WILL hurt your brain..haha

US high school shooting leaves eight dead
www.chinaview.cn 2005-03-22 11:35:16

WASHINGTON, March 21 (Xinhuanet) -- A high school student killed two of his grandparents and then went on a shooting rampage at his Minnesota school on Monday, killing five people and wounding as many as 15 others before killing himself, officials said.

The dead included a female teacher, a male security officer andfour students of the Red Lake High School, which is on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota, FBI Special Agent Paul McCabe was quoted as saying by news reports.

The school, which has about 300 students, was evacuated and locked down, he said.

The dead students were shot in one room, and 14 to 15 other students were wounded, he added.

About one hour after the shooting incident, the authorities found that the boy had killed his grandmother and grandfather, whowas a retired policeman, an official of the Red Lake Fire Department was quoted as saying.

The boy used his grandfather's police-issued weapon in the rampage, he said.

This was the worst school shooting in the United States since April 1999 when two students at a high school in Colorado killed 13 people and wounded 23 others before committing suicide. Enditem

When will they realise that a gun is a weapon of mass destruction when there's a whole nation of children bearing them?WHEN WILL THE Y STOP KILLING THEMSELVES?

hey guys thanks for all the comments for the journal design
here's the newer version, still have to add and change here and there but hopefully it'll be the final.
Thought I'll just explain a bit about the idea behind the design. Basically I want the journal to be where dreams and visions are written down, planned and documented. The verse I drew from was Luke 1:37 "For nothing is impossible with God", it's a simple truth but one that I've often doubted but trying more and more to rely on, with God's love, forget pigs, but even whales can soar in the sky and cities float in the air.
During the past year I've been very grateful to a lot of people (and more importantly God) for giving me the opportunity to exercise my creativity and other gifts. Starting from Sonic Fest 04 and hopefully not culminating with Sonic Fest 05, I'll be working hard to dream, design and build...

Had quite a funny day today and probably one of the more enjoyable days this month.

Started off by ending one of the most brutal studio sessions I have ever had. Basically 2, 3 days of non stop working at studio, going back only for shower and brush teeth breaks. Got really jaded because I seem to be making no progress at all but thankful because i know I'm really just drawing strength from God, not even as an inspiration for design but as my refuge.
After class was over went straight to Orchard to catch Vertical Rush and Surreal at Rouge for the 20th anniversary party of Hype magazine. Both awesome bands (and not just because I'm good friends with the members) but really great to see their sound invading a club instead of the usual brainless top 40, retro or house (*shudder*)... but seriously not Christian bands but a band of Christians (you guys rawk!)
I don't know why but i find people in clubs and pubs quite disturbing in that the world seems to think that everyone needs alcohol and sex to enjoy themselves. While the group of us are just enjoying each other's company and the great sets the bands played, I noticed there were a group of people who were just fixated with the xbox's they had set up in one of the lounge booths and I just kept thinking why pay $10 to seclude yourself? (btw I'm not anti-xbox, i own one myself). Plus the MCs for the event somehow thought it'll be fun to have a competition for "the girl wearing the shortest skirt", which was quite a turn off seeing one of the girl's boyfriend prodding her to go "display her wares" so to speak. But I guess it was a blessing in disguise because as part of a youth ministry it's these kind of happenings that galvanises us into going into these places to spread positivity and real fulfillment in Christ.

After the party, went to hang out with Kun and Deana from uni, had quite an experience trying out shisa (spelt correct?), which is like some type of flavoured indian smoking device (yes like a bong), but has no drug effects (we tried the peppermint flavour). Now I'm a huge anti-smoker, I've tried one cigarette in my life and I can't stand smoking and smokerd in general. At first I was quite apprehensive as to trying this shisa thing out mainly because I just assume all forms of smoking involve some type of altered perception of realty but after some reassurance I took a puff (haha that sounds so wrong). Basically just tried it out as part of my "exchange experience". Had some fun trying to blow smoke rings and taking short videos that will probably freak out my parents once I show them. Overall, it was just like breathing in condensed sauna air, the peppermint flavour was quite nice too..

This will be my title image for my "why you should go on exchange presentation when i get back to sydney

(as you can probably guess my first reaction to this thing was "Honey, I can't believe it's not a bong")

had quite a errands kind of day, went to a metal roofing factory for my construction field trip, quite dry, but we tried to make it less boring by posing in front of the machinery while taking photos (yes it's a new low for me.... sigh..)
Then went to suntec to check out the IT show, wah it reminded me why I hate crowded convention halls, the smell of sweaty dudes selling portable hard drives....
Starting sketching a lot of anime style characters lately for some reason, here's a few quick ones

Went to the Norah Jones on Sunday (or was it Monday?). Was quite fun, honestly the type of music doesn't justify the ticket price as you're basically getting what's on the cd but since I didn't have to pay a cent just thought I'll go check out what the person behind the piano is like. Turns out Norah was a pretty cool gal, very down to earth and joked quite a bit. The first hour of the concert was alright, our seats were to the side and the hall was flat for reasons that escapes me. But the last 20 minutes or so were quite loose, so we went up to the stage to get a better view.

I actually wanted to get some shots of her behind the piano but just couldn't get the angle right.. ah well
