Had my first day of mid sem break, decided the night before to play some ball and organised it for 10 am.
However dunno why but all singtel phones (or at least the ones i know of) decided to go berserk and not deliver messages when there are sent or let you make calls. I ended up waking up at 1130. I rushed to the courts at tiong bahru after realising I was the ball for the game. After the first game, while we were having a break my phone went on msg rampage as all my morning's sms came at the same time. It was kind of interesting how different people (namely Esmond and John Chiong) react to me being late...
]1st msg (Es): hey Shawn, where are you? it's 1015 we at buona vista with no ball...
2nd msg (Es): eh Shawn, we leaving without you.. join us if you wake up...
3rd msg (John): Spam!
4th msg(Es): HEY SHAWN! we have no ball!
5th msg (Es): Shawn. you must turn up. You are the organiser. Remember.
6th msg (John): hey shawn why don't you join us? hehe....
Also just realised that i have 2 months left in my exchange here in Singapore. I have to say this has been quite a journey for me. the funny thing is I will probably be the strangest exchange student here since i seem to fit in better here than home. But i guess praise God for providing me with a 10 month long pilgrimage. It sounds corny but I think I really discovered a lot about myself during my time here. Just some thoughts about the whole experience:
- God works in weird and mysteriously but ultimately wonderful ways
- Loving others also includes loving myself
- School is sometimes a distraction to more important things in life (kids under 18 please ignore)
- Having extended family in the same country really rocks
- Hall life is overrated, especially when the only time your neighbours give a crap about u is to get you to help them do stuff or to tell you to stop practicing bass so they can hear themselves sing to chinese opera
- Time management is probably THE most important skills one learns in education
- Your private bathroom, don't take it for granted
- I am so going to starve to death when I get back to Australia....
- Draw near to God and He
will draw near
to you
I think i'll probably write a bit more in detail about my time hear but i guess this is just a preview...
